Our Shared purpose

And he said to them, 'Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.'

Mark 16:15

Our mission is rooted in the Wesleyan tradition of holiness: proclaiming salvation and promoting Christian living. Together, we work to cultivate leaders and empower local churches to actively participate in the global mission of the Church of the Nazarene, reaching hearts and transforming communities across the Africa Region.

Shaun - Regional Youth Coordinator

As the Regional Youth Coordinator, I'm focused on discipleship, leadership development, and spiritual formation for the next generation of Christ-followers. My role involves training local youth leaders, organizing large-scale regional events (like NYI Convention and retreats), and establishing mentorship programs to ensure that our young people are equipped to live lives of holiness and service. I work to create a vibrant, engaging environment where youth can encounter God and claim His calling for their lives.

Africa Nazarene Youth International (NYI) serves as the vibrant and dynamic youth ministry arm of the Church of the Nazarene across the Africa Region. We are committed to discipling and empowering over 100,000 young individuals, aged 12 to 35, by fostering deep, holistic, and active relationships with Christ.

Vision

Our vision for youth ministry in Africa is to see a vibrant presence of young individuals growing into authentic, lifelong, and transformed relationships with Jesus Christ, leading to disciples dedicated to Christian service that is both meaningful and impactful in bringing peace, healing, and restoration across every nation in Africa.

Mission

Our mission is to call and connect young people to God, self and others and make Christlike disciples in the nations of Africa.

Through holistic ministry, mentoring, and partnerships, we strive to cultivate interdependence and self-sustainability within Africa Nazarene Youth International (ANYI), empowering young people to be agents of change in their communities.

NYI IMPACT AREAS

Holistic

Africa Nazarene Youth International (ANYI) is committed to developing young people holistically—body, soul, and mind. Grounded in 1 Thessalonians 5:23, this approach prepares youth for meaningful, impactful lives. The African proverb “It takes a village to raise a child” emphasizes the vital role of community in nurturing youth to reach their full potential.

Mentoring

Youth play an essential leadership role in the church today and need mentors who can guide and support their spiritual journey. Mentorship strengthens their faith and growth, echoing Proverbs 27:17 on mutual sharpening. The African proverb “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together” reinforces the long-term value of walking alongside young people.

Partnership

Young people are more effective in creating meaningful and lasting change when they work together. Ecclesiastes 4:9 highlights the strength of unity and collaboration. By partnering, youth ministries can extend their impact, share resources, and inspire a generation committed to a common purpose.

Self-sustainability

A strong community is one that can care for itself. Africa NYI aims to build self-sustaining youth ministries by encouraging local ownership and leadership development. With Philippians 4:13 as inspiration, reminding us that knowledge must be cultivated and shared, youth are empowered to grow, take responsibility, and develop others for lasting impact.
