Faraja:
My life journey, calling and milestones

I was born into a pastorâs family, and in many ways, my faith journey began even before I entered this world. My mother often shares how, during her pregnancy with me, she would stand at the altar, balancing the weight of pastoring in my fatherâs absence while carrying me, praying fervently that I would serve God. Despite this legacy, I spent my childhood resisting the idea of ministry, even vowing that I would never marry a pastor. However, as I reflect on my journey, I see how God was patiently and lovingly shaping my path.
Throughout my life, I often found myself drawn to Kenya through vivid visions, while simultaneously wrestling with God about feeling "too young" for the calling I sensed. Yet, through it all, He gently guided me, step by step, toward His purpose for my life.
My calling in ministry became increasingly clear during my years of study in Kenya, where God opened doors through mission trips, worship ministry, and rich cultural experiences. Even as I tried to escape the weight of ministry, God continually redirected my steps, confirming His call through opportunities, mentors, and the testimonies of my own family.
As Shaun and I discerned our shared calling as missionaries, I realised that God wasnât asking me to conform to someone elseâs vision; instead, He invited me to embrace and offer the unique gifts, skills, and passion for people He had placed within me for His mission.
Over the years, I have been blessed with milestones that affirm His call in my life. My role as a Career Development Officer at Africa Nazarene University allowed me to mentor young women and students through pivotal life decisions. Later, while working in regional personnel and mobilisation, I found immense joy in supporting missionariesâguiding them through processes, celebrating their achievements, and walking alongside them through challenges. Coordinating missionary retreats and witnessing candidates being deployed into the field have been highlights that remind me I am part of a grand narrative in Godâs mission.
Today, as I serve in administrative and mobilisation roles, I consider it a privilege to play a small but significant part in what God is accomplishing across Africa. My journey continues, and I am excited to see where He leads me next.
